Highlighted activity:
Chairing the 12th Symposium on Combinatorial Search (SoCS 2019)

Welcome to my academic website. This website presents my two primary activities which are doing research in the area of artificial intelligence and teaching related subjects. I also offer supervising of software projects, bachelor theses, master theses, and doctoral dissertations. If you are a student interested in working on a thesis under my supervision please feel free to contact me. Talented and motivated Ph.D. students and Post-Docs are especially welcome (funded projects are available).

I obtained my habilitation (2016), Ph.D. (2008), and M.Sc. (2004) in artificial intelligence (AI) and theoretical computer science at Charles University. Prior to joining the Czech Technical University I held the position of research scientist at AIST in Tokyo, the assistant professor position at Charles University, the position of JSPS fellow at Kobe University and various research&development positions in industry.

My major research interests include multi-agent path finding, satisfiability, heuristic search, motion planning, and constraint optimization. I am also interested in problem complexity, algorithm design, game theory, computational geometry, and computer graphics.

In addition to conducting research and teaching in AI, I am supporting transfer of AI research outcomes to industrial practice and always welcoming interdisciplinary research opportunities.
